In the late 60s, the Jordan Bosstone ™ was a small fuzz device with a ¼ inch plug you'd put directly in your guitar's jack then plug your cable into it to your amp. Though many fell in love with its cool fuzz sound, it turns out not to have been practical enough for many users. Due to its design, it was only possible to plug it into a Gibson™ type guitar so many Strat™ players were left out. This is a shame because it really has a great fuzz sound that was, at the very least equal to, (or) better than other fuzz products on the market at the time. Perhaps partially because of its impractical nature, the fuzz unit never caught on and hasnt been manufactured in many, many years.

Thanks to GGG, we now have a way to experience the JBT in a more practical and useful manner. Visit http://www.generalguitargadgets.com for complete details on the kit.

I'm not able to play at any real volume because it overloads the camera mic but this thing really screams with a cranked amp! It's easy to get some natural sustaining harmonics and such at louder volumes which I couldn't really get in the vid.

I played my 1983 Les Paul Deluxe through a Carvin V-50 head (circa 96) and a Carvin Vintage 4x10 cab w/ original speakers (no longer made). I played solely on the clean channel set as: Treb- 6.75; Mid- 6.75; Bass- 9; Vol- 1.

When I come out of playing at the end to speak, you hear some noisy rumbling static in the vid. This is due to some kind of internal compressor/limiter on the camera. It doesnt do well transitioning from louder to quieter sounds...sorry 'bout that. .

  • norman Greenbaum had his friend wire a boss tone directly into his guitar for the spirit in the sky sound....some said it may have been to boss tones hooked in series.

  • @BLUERIDGE111: That is pure awesomeness!

  • Hey hi! I havr an original one, i was looking for a demo of it and found yours. Nice video...

Oh and the guy who sold this bosstone to me has a strat btw... And he simply put the common output of the strat backwards to connect this thing into his guitar. He told me many people did that back in the old days...

    Keep on making great demos!

Cheers from cabo in mexico xP

  • @97teledlx Thanks. I've recently purchased a Q3 which has less video quality but much greater audio quality. I've made a couple of vids with it and the sound is much better.

  • Nice video. Maybe GGG could spot you the video gear you need to enhance the sound of their products - just a thought. The single lead notes sound better than the chords. Keep up the good work and yes I agree that you should change the knobs!!! Ttyl :-)

  • @BlisterOnTheMoon Can't seem to post links in comments anymore. Go to General Guitar Gadgets .com and click on the link for the JBT then "Complete Instructions for this Kit" and the schematic is there for download.

  • Could you share the schemmatic? please.
