They needed a singer to test the lyrics and song. What they paid Rod Stewart managed to get him new seat covers for his car. Wasn't credited for this when it came out.

@BPavsner A band from Australia, with 1 Scott and 2 Brits. Rod Stewart was asked to sing on 3 songs this was one of them, i believe it was recorded around 1968(correct me if i am wrong) but did not chart till 1972 after being re-released.
Alice Cooper was never a witch, in fact he is and always has been a devout christian. I forgot to add, Jethro Tull was an 18th century agriculturalist who invented the seed drill to make sowing seeds on the farm easier.
