If I'm going to sing a heavy, painful ballad, you better believe that I'm going to come back with the MOST ULTIMATE LOVE SONG EVER CREATED IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE!!! ... KNOWN TO MANKIND!!!! ... at least in 1970 ;) "(Where Do I Begin?) Love Story" is one of those songs that transcends time - IN EPIC PROPORTIONS!!!! This epic song opens in the most incredibly dramatic fashion and the music keeps leaping from mountain top to mountain top. It's an epic only surpassed by Moses parting the Red Sea!!! The melody evokes images of doves and intense white light. The music rises and rises and rises! And, when the music seems to reach it's culmination, heights beyond mortal reach, heights beyond measure, symphonies in Heaven, join the revelry, and reveal even greater measures! Call it a proclamation of love from on high!! Imagine, singing at such great heights. Please, remember how hard it is to take a deep breath from atop a mountain!?! So, I've heard. It's unimaginably difficult, I would presume. "(Where Do I Begin?) Love Story" is a terribly heart-wrenching composition, full of passion, with great resolve! As I've stated before, I've been posting so many mushy, gushy, love songs. I had to sing the mushiest gushiest ballad of them all! And, once in a blue moon, the coin spins uncontrollably!!! The light is absolutely blinding!!!! Those emotions are emancipating!!!!! Hopefully, most people will experience such intense passion!!!!!! And, fortunately, light can become so blinding, that darkness can virtually ... disappear!! "(Where Do I Begin?) Love Story" reflects that blinding light.

"(Where Do I Begin?) Love Story" is a popular song published in 1970, with music by Francis Lai and lyrics by Carl Sigman. The song was first introduced as an instrumental theme in the 1970 film Love Story. The lyrics were added after the theme music became popular.

The song has been covered many times. Andy Williams recorded the biggest hit version (#9 on the U.S. pop chart, #1 on the adult contemporary chart for four weeks, #4 UK Singles Chart). The song was also recorded by Lai himself (U.S. #31) with a full orchestra, and by Henry Mancini (U.S. #13), Vikki Carr, Nino Tempo & April Stevens, Rick Astley, Johnny Mathis, José José, Shirley Bassey, Patricia Kaas, Nana Mouskouri, Paul Mauriat, Donald Braswell II, and Richard Clayderman. Williams performed the song with Miss Piggy in an episode of The Muppet Show. There is also a Romanian cover of this song, by Aurelian Andreescu, as well as a French one by Mireille Mathieu. Ray Conniff's version replaced the pronoun "she" (referring to Ali MacGraw's character in the film) with "you". N.EX.T also covered this song in an instrumental version, in their album The Return of Next, Part 2. Australian singer Alfio recorded this song in 2008 for his album Classic Rewinds in tribute to Al Martino and 14 other Italian-American singers. Barry Manilow recorded this song on his 2010 Album "The Greatest Songs of All Time". He performed this song live on the penultimate Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien.

Raymond, in the sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, played the song in the episode "Mozart". In The Simpsons, episode "Catch 'Em if You Can" (from season 15), Homer and Marge sing the opening lines to this song to each other lovingly as the family prepares to watch the movie they rented for the evening, Love Story. In Friends, episode The One With All The Jealousy, Ross sends Rachel a musical ladybug that plays the theme.

It has been sampled by DJ SS in the Drum & Bass song "Lighter", and was also sampled in piano and used in a song called "Dance with the Devil" by the rapper Immortal Technique. In addition, Hi-Tek also sampled Andy Williams' version for the track "Where It Started (NY)" for his album Hi-Teknology²: The Chip. The piano melody has also been sampled by British hip hop artists Phi Life Cypher and Task Force for the track "Who's This" on the EP "The Chosen Few".
