@Bobjb999 holy hell... Bowie makes this song soar!.. you gotta be kidding me, but I understand, such things are subjective, and if you're an old school Verlaine fan I can see you being taken aback by it. Tom Verlaine should be thankful, not spiteful, that Bowie chose to cover his song, because millions of people now know wtf he is who never would have.
One of my least fave songs from Tom's first solo album. Bowie's version's no better. I don't know why Bowie chose that one to cover. He should have covered Television's "Kingdom Come" ( a completely different song in words & music - only the title is the same) instead! Bowie was once quoted in the '70s as saying something like "the only band I can listen to is Television". Tom said he didn't "go along" with Bowie's version - a polite way of saying he thought it sucked?
some of the soloing sounds like "see no evil" i think its that .anyway love this song .like bowies toomaybe im being naive but is it about chopping coke?im a shit guitarist but i have soul if anyones bored with the general shite on offer did u jknow that an anogram of LADY GAGA is A GAY LAD G and an anogram of LINKIN PARK is LIKIN KRAP N well i think that better describes them.anyway if u like to rate my tune "ive found what bono was looking for" wargasm8@myspacemusic im up for flack
Horses for courses. Great song, just prefer Bowie's version. Kudos to Verlaine for writing it. Sorry if I upset anyone, these things are very personal I know. G

@GordanStojadinovic
Bowie's arrangement was good IMO but his vocals totally overdid it and ruined anything good about his version. This version is stunning.
