Gabrielle Douglas brings home the GOLD!
Hello friends and thanks for sticking with me right here on Clevver News!
Gabrielle Douglas is having one of the BEST Olympics over in London. Today, the 16-year-old from Virginia Beach took home the Gold Medal for the women's all-around gymnastics competition.
Gabby took the lead after her FIRST rotation on vault... and just never let go.
The oh-so adorable gymnast gave a riveting and powerful performance on the uneven bars, stayed cautious but strong on the balance beam and then showed off her smiley personality and excellent tumbling skills during her floor exercise routine.
Both silver and bronze went to Russia.... but just by a hair. The USA came in fourth.... Only after the tie-breaker procedure was used.
The sweetest moment of the event had to have been when Gabby's gold-medal winning score of 15.033 was posted... and she leaped in the arms of her coach, Liang Chow.
Gabby's Gold Medal comes hot off the heels of another big victory for her. As we reported earlier this week, the FAB FIVE took home the team gold medal on Tuesday.
Douglas' big win is ALSO a historic one. She is now the first African-American woman to win gold in the women's all around.
Later during the London Olympics, Gabby will also compete in the individual finals on the balance beam and the uneven bars... which, as we know... is her best event.
We here at Clevver News could not be happier for the gymnast and want to say congratulations! Go ahead and leave YOUR CONGRATULATORY messages for Gabby in the comment section below and then be sure and click that subscribe button and of course, like this video.
