@TheyCallMeJuLiiA some australian shepherds, like this dog, have a naturally bobbed or docked tail. In the United States, the docking of tails is still legal and, in fact, the standard of certain dog breeds. I love my aussie with her gorgeous full tail, though. I couldn't do it!

Jovi is precious! Yes, the tail really is a shame. I've got myself an Aussie pup too. We were told the tail was docked. I wish we'd known about the litter sooner. I'd have told the breeder not to do it for mine at least. We love him anyway. He's got a cute little bear cub booty.

@naxcilliac Thank you for your comment. It is true that a clipped tail is a sad thing for any breed. The day we got Jovi, we didn't know as much about the Australian Shepherd breed as we do now. We asked if the tail was docked and we were told that Jovi had a NBT (Natural Bobtail). We had no way to know if this was the case, but we did some research and it happens. We didn't inspect the other pups, but the father's tail was longer, not a full tail, but not like Jovi's either.
