This SandStory was part of an event for Transition Lenses and The Disney Event Group performed live at Walt Disney World Resort Hotel.

"The vast reaches of the African veldt, sounds of the jungle at night and the spectacular variety of wild animals on the massive continent still intrigue us in a unique way. Ever since Henry Stanley, the intrepid journalist, went searching for Christian Missionary Dr. David Livingstone, and finding him within the roar of the spectacular Victoria Falls, our curiosity has been pricked by the images painted of this mysterious land. David Livingstone understood the Biblical mandate to care for our world and it's inhabitants.

My wife and I had the privilege a while back to travel to where Livingstone gave his life for his mission. Zimbabwe, Africa was the location for a CHN getaway designed to meet and encourage missionaries from countries around Africa. The passion, dedication and commitment that Livingstone embodied was stronger than ever in the wonderful people we met. In Botswana we slept in a rustic Safari camp where after dark we could hear the lions roaring outside our room and the next day rode through the savannah, spotting giraffes, zebra, monkeys, hippo, rhino and a herd of elephants close enough to hear them breathing as they crossed our path. That trip and a 'Lion walk,' inspired my latest SandStory piece, "Wild Animals in Africa," and you can see the photos of our incredible adventure.

Whether you are watching hummingbirds, at the feeder hung by your kitchen window or lizards climbing your back yard fence, the world God created is truly magnificent and worth preserving for all to enjoy." --Joe Castillo

A process called SandStory is used in this video. SandStory is the art of telling stories with sand. They are typically performed live on stage and video projected on screen. Sand scattered on a light box is formed and reformed into ever changing shapes and images that tell visually powerful stories. Choreographed to music these images inspire, challenge and motivate in a captivating way. Joe Castillo is one of the first and certainly the premier "SandStory" in the world today! Joe Castillo's many years in advertising has enabled him to produce customized Sandstories for a variety of clients.

  • @korento3000 I agree, and I could have done without the animal noises too! Incredible skill though. His hands danced across the sand.

  • Very beautiful. To the editor: ... whomever who edited the video, please don't cut out anything just in order to 'fasten' the process. The beauty in sand art is the whole process and _witnessing_ it from start to finish. It is violation of the piece of art to cut out the important parts of the story!!

  • Incredible and inspiring! Makes me homesick

  • Great stuff....amazing talent!
