that was cool.

Nice piece, but the moder surveying equipment with its fiberglass and metal legs stuck out....should've had the wood tripod legs. I'm sure someone could have found that checking around with surveyors who collect old equipment.

I just read a biography of Mr. Mulholland. The actor you have portraying him is great. It's amazing that the current state of California exists because of a small handful of visionaries like Mr. Mulholland who have the balls to do the "impossible".

William Mulholland obviously studied his ancient history. Everything he did had been done before; first by the Persians and then by the Romans.

Great to see that my name sake did such a great job! I wonder if he is a distant relation,
William Mulholland
surely the building of a 200+ mile aqueduct through the mojave desert is worthy of praise - but it's also worth noting that Mulholland had to secretly buy 95% of the water rights to the Owen River from misled communities (which would later dry up with their river) and the San Francisquito dam (part of the aqueduct project) burst in 1928 - an environmental disaster for CA. positive and negative assessments make good docs - he's not an idealized statue to praise!

He's not being praised as an idealistic statue, but rather as the visionary and genius that history seems to have forgotten.
The reason any land was bought in secret (which has been exaggerated over the years) is because there were several private interests that wanted the water for themselves as a profit-making scheme.
The City of Los Angeles paid 4 times the average value for each parcel they purchased, and the Owens Valley farmers sold out happily. Nothing was done dishonestly.
