Why the hell isn't the motocross bike industry leaping on DI two-stroke technology? Two-stroke bikes are facing extinction thanks to the Eco-Nazis and a clean running two-stroke (remember that the sound of a 2-stroke bike doesn't carry as far as a 4) would be a blessing to both sides. More zap on the track and more birds in the trees, why the hell not?!

@JETZcorp Well its expensive, and most systems demands a battery. And DI 2-strokes would probably be much faster than 4-strokes without DI.

@Fishfridge93 before this engine i i didn`t trust mercury for any thing but now i tel you that this is the best in the market,we even changed the fuel tank in our boat (its half the size ),well done .

I'm a two stroke specialist, and can tell you, 2-stroke can be as fuel efficient and lifetime as a 4 stroke. Problem is that 90% of 2-stroke is not tuned correctly, or running way to much oil mixture.( carb ) Injection doesn't has this problem.

2-stroke pollution = bullshit. It's actually 2 x power efficient.

i dont like so much electronics in engines , but the evinrude injector is made in colaboration with siemens , and is unique as injection system , it was based in orbital 2 stroke engines , and maybe is a good replacement for car engines too . Sorry if im a fan of evinrude design , but i recognize that mercury is an historical excelent performance engine .

I don't care what evinrude made in the sixties...you're 40 years late there. P.S. Electronic injection is nothing but garbage, especially with evinrude.

evinrude made v engines in the sixties , with all electonic ignition , and invented electronic direct fuel injection in 1997

Dude, you have no idea. I ahve an e-tec, and I can' tell you how much I want a Merc or a Yammie. Evinrude is NOT 20 years ahead of Merc...Belt drive distributors? No, not for the past 12 years. High output Rude motors do perform well, but they are built with not 1 stitch of quality.

when evinrude comes with one piece engine cover , mercury have three pieces engine cover. when evinrude comes with v engines , mercury have in line engines . when evinrude comes with all electronic ignition , mercury comes with belt drive distributor . when evinrude come with easy reparation flappers next to carbs , mercury have cranckase flappers . facts , evinrude are 20 years in advance , evinrude invented the outboard ...
