Huge Episcopal church in N.Y. City, a must see for any visitor to New York. The symbols, architecture and craftsmanship of the art is amazing ...almost transendental. Photos and footage inside this landmark cathedral. The cathedral, designed in 1888 and begun in 1892, has, in its history, undergone radical stylistic changes and the interruption of the two World Wars. Originally designed as Byzantine-Romanesque, the plan was changed after 1909 to a Gothic design.
Marble. Stone. Dead people lying around. Children chanting to a single organ stop. Makes you want to sit and pray or just listen and contemplate. Where is God? He's everywhere. In the stones. But most importantly in you. You are not your own. Trouble is, the church doesn't foster this. It just wants your money. Church is a business. Most lock up and admit no one but at services and even then you can get kicked out going regularly. I have a theory church is becoming a club for criminals.

This was one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. It's absolutely haunting to see in person.

The Cathedral store is every bit as fine as the one at the Huntington Library.

I wish that instead of the choir you had provided a narrative of exactly what we are seeing. it would have been very helpful.

gorgeous church, I just went there with my family. Very unusual for a non-catholic church to have such an opulent and diverse art collection.
