Here's some 1960s garage rock from Cleveland, Ohio. These are the best songs from the group's 1967 Dot album THE BASKERVILLE HOUNDS FEATURING SPACE ROCK, PART 2:

1) "Baby Am I Losing"
2) "Make Me Your Man"
3) "I'm a Believer"
4) "Space Rock, Part 2"

I've heard that "Space Rock, Part 2" was featured frequently in the regionally popular TV show GHOULARDI.

"Space Rock, Part 2" bears a striking resemblance to "Whittier Blvd." by the LA chicano garage band Thee Midniters; it's likely that the Cleveland boys took inspiration from "Whittier" for their "Space Rock." This kind of musical plagiarism was not unheard of during the 1960s, especially in the case of instrumental songs.

It's also possible that it was the Midniters' song that was featured on GHOULARDI rather than the Hounds' song, which would thus make the Cleveland connection just a coincidence(GHOULARDI was filmed there and the Baskerville Hounds were from there).

I found my autographed copy of the album in a record shop in Kent, Ohio.

  • What part of Cleveland I wonder? Probably Trowbridge by Metropolitan Hospital...

  • Don't quote me on this, but I think the back cover says that the photo was taken in Mayfield Heights. Not that that means the group was FROM there, of course.

  • I wonder who Claudia was/is?

  • The former owner of this record, I guess!

  • @myrecordcollection ..heh..perhaps she was one of the girlfriends, the kids on the cover etc..

  • She was probably a Hounds groupie from Parma.

  • @shelly10538

its at the top of Overlook Road and Edgehill Road above Little Italy in Cleveland Heights.

  • My Grandmother Gloria knew Larry Meese. These guys are great... See how old they are!!!

  • Make Me Your Man came out on a seven inch single as well, with Here I Come Miami on the flipside. Not sure which side I prefer, both are good. But Here I Come Miami is "Side 1" on the 45.

  • @bobjenkins47 "Hold Me" really good but they have a sound track over it.

  • Whatever happened to Jack Topper?
