Decided to revisit this test sequence with a new camera body. This is basically a re-do of my previous video "Nikon D5000 Driving At Night" at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgVUuZDG84E using a Nikon D7000.
Overall, I am pleased with the improved low-light performance. Sequences shot between ISO 1600 and 6400 at f 2.8 and 1/50 sec shutter speed. Visual quality is significantly diminished due to a dirty windshield, shooting wide open with a cheap lens (Sigma 15mm f2.8), and some accidental back focusing.
@IraqiSolidSnake1988 it is from "The Fountain" sountrack by Clint Mansell

@bckpkrs haha thanks. Just a standard tripod with legs that swing all the way out steadied with a couple light stand sandbags. its kinda hard to describe, but there's nothing fancy going on.

Nice; much better than my out the window shot from the back of an SUV packed w/ family on Thanksgiving night. What did you use to mount the camera steady?
