Hey bro great video ... but when you knifed the fish, i've done a lil bit of spearfishing in my country venezuela and i used to stab the fish from the top of the head and try and sever the brain, mostly on barracudas, i have never caught a yellowtail but was wandering why you came from the side? almost trough the gills? is that the way to sever the spine instead..? sorry for all the question ... great video...

@psykoman2004
He is slicing the gills to bleed out the fish. Makes the quality of the meat a lot better. You can/should do this with almost any species of fish but it is especially beneficial to do it with anything you plan on eating raw like yellowtail, tuna, or bonita.

The Sea of Cortez has many predators. including the (giant in the gray suit)
would it be ok to dive in San Diego Cali with a stringer w/ fish attached
to your waist? I'm going there in Feb to freedive
Diving here in the FL. Keys is to dangerous to have a stringer w fish...
p.s.great video!!!!

@1nathanstone Dove the Sea of Cortez many times over the last 10 years and have still never seen a dangerous species of shark. The corrupt Mexican government allows long lining and gillnetting of sharks in the sea of cortez which has decimated the population. No problem diving in socal with a stringer of fish...
