@montereyhippie Actually I kinda wanted to see how long this could go before either one of us went nuts, or we got reported for spam or something. I'm actually really surpirsed we got this far. Besides, I'm a white chick in the African American dorm at my college. I basically get stoned ANY time I say something bad about The Secret Life of Bees LOL! It was fun doing this so long.

@montereyhippie If you had watched "The Godfather" then you would know that it doesn't glamorize gansters at all. And making a crappy plot good is part of execution. A plot can have everything, but if it's not done well then there's no point. I would rather see a bad plot made interesting then a good plot go through the motions.

@Rosebunse i think content & execution r equally important! u can have a movie where the actors r great but if the plot or story is bullshit u get lost & wonder what the hell was the director trying to say w/that particular film! or u can have a great story to b told but the actors r shit! as for the godfather, i cant comment on that movie since ive never seen it. im not n to mafia movies & dont understand y america glamorize those ppl. as for grown ups, i never heard of that movie!

@montereyhippie OK, maybe I shouldn't have said content doesn't factor in at all. Instead, let me say that, yes, it's a base, but it is not what makes something great. Was "Godfather" great because it was about a gaster family and their lives during a war? No, it was great because the actors and director and everyone else did a GREAT job executing their plan. Look at "Grown Ups", a movie that could've been great had someone done their job properly.

@montereyhippie And I believe your opinion is very true. There are a lot of songs that do seem to lose their appeal when unnecessary lyrics are added. Sometimes shortness is good :)

@Rosebunse again i diagree w/u! 1 content is equally important as execution. 2 i realy dont blieve that this movie was "preaching" anyting! if u were given the chance to ask the director y the movie is "preaching" the same thing again & again, im fairly certain (s)he wouldnt know what u were talkin about since its not even close to doing that 3 we all have our opinions. i liked it & would rate it 3 of 5 stars.if u didnt like it thats fine,too! @Rosebunse a little girl that went from feeling like she had no 1 really close to her (except mayb the maid),having no mother, & not really knowing where she belong. to being surrounded w/ love,having 3 surrogate mothers,& feeling like she was where she belonged;home! & that love, like any true/real love surpasses race,skin color,etc I think its more to do w/ finding ur place & teaching ppl that u can chose ur family. fam is whoever love,cares, & support u. thats my opinion! :) paix

@Rosebunse i completely disagree...I didnt get the impression that it was about y racism is wrong. of course it had a racist event n it that effected he characters but i think that was more for aesthetics.a reminder to the viewer of what the era was like.its hard to make a movie that takes place n the down south 50s w/o showing 1 racist event since thats what they experienced everyday!out of curiousity r u young/white? u dont have to answer if u dont feel comfortable! for me it was more about...

It wasted three great actresses and turned what could have been an Oscar worthy drama into another typical 50sh movie about why racism is wrong. Yes, I know racism is wrong, that's why I'm so tired of being reminded of it 24/7. It's not like the people who need to see it will. The book wasn't that great either.
