DIY Cleaning Gourds

Step 1.... Get dried gourd

Step 2... Get dust mask, and maby also glases

Step 3... Begin scraping away mold

Step 4... Drill a hole in the gourd for a bird (search hole sizes for ceretan birds)

Step 5... Scrape seeds and dried insides out

Step 6... Let the gourd sit in a 15-20% bleach soultion for about 20 min . Let dry inside for 1 day.

Step 7... Drill 2 holes in the top to hang the gourd. Drill 3 or 4 holes in the bottem to let out any water that gets in the gourd

Step 8... Put mineral oil on the gourd like you are staining wood. Or you could paint it.

Step 9... Hang the gourd in a tree at the proper height for the type bird that you have selected. Or put insideto look pretty

How would one make a drinking gourd?

If I hadn't watched this I would have thought they had gone bad, (mold) and may of tossed them. I'd only ever seen then all cleaned up and nice so thanks for the video, my daughter has been asking to grow these so I got her some for christmas and I'm glad to know more about how they should end up!
