PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS VIDEO'S COMMENTS AREA TO VOICE YOUR OPINION OF THE POLITICS SURROUNDING WHAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE DONE TO CORRECT FLOODING ISSUES. THIS VIDEO IS MERELY A MEMORIAL TO THE DEVASTATION CAUSED LAST SUMMER. THANK YOU.

Music: 'The Change' - Garth Brooks

A collection of pics I took around Miami on July 3 and July 4, 2007. I took and own all the rights to all the pics except for the arial photos.

The Neosho River rose to 29.25 feet at Stepps Ford Bridge in Commerce, OK, which is 15 feet above flood stage. It was 3 feet higher than the horrible flood of 1986, and less than 5 feet from the flood of 1951, which was caused by a broken dam.

2007 marked the greatest natural disaster in Miami's history (caused by the rain alone). Of the 13,500 residents of Miami, over 1,000 were displaced, over 550 homes and businesses were damaged or destroyed, and the damage to the community and NEO A&M College was over $42 million.

Less than 6 months later, Miami was hit with an ice storm that left a majority of the city and surrounding area without power for up to two weeks.

2007 saw 3 federally declared natural disasters in Miami.

  • i remember the flood the water completly missed our house and hit the others houses around us

  • i was there getting horses out of chest deep water at the fairgrounds, another hour and i would of lost them .

  • I live in Miami and it's raining at this moment. I live in the NW part of town, but it has flooded where I'm at. I have learned to loathe heavy rain and thunderstorms. When this town was built, the lay out of it wasn't thought about, I don't think. Riverview Park and everything in the south end of town goes under if it's bad enough. I hate to see this happen over and over.

  • Wow!! This is an excellent video. Good job. I live in Miami (Mudville) now and remember very well the day this started happening and the week after and the months of rebuilding and clean up after that. I was lucky enough to live on a high spot of ground on the NW side of town but just a few blocks behind us went under. It was horrible. The tension on the south side of town could be cut with a knife as people tried to get their belongings before their houses went under.

  • i grew up here and the place i used to live got too damaged to be saved, so it was torn down....

  • Wow, I hadnt seen a few of these photos. My house was just down the street from the shot @ 1:45. Yes mine was a total loss.

  • it was flooded over the river view park

  • The little house at 1:21-1:22 was mine at the time of the flood!

  • Your welcome! My friend Kurt made this video. I just happened to stumble across it on here.I haven't really spoken with him in a while, but I think I'll ask him to give some updates. Have a great night!
