SYNTH018 FREDERIC GERCHAMBEAU "3 Suites" CDR - limited 90 - file under : french avant-garde electronic, GRM music for theoretical minds

/////////////////////////////////////////////

Hello ! My name is Frederic Gerchambeau. I have made this movie and this music. The music has been made in one take entirely with a Moogerfooger FreqBox MF-107 driven by a Doepfer Dark Energy. There is also a Boss Digital Delay DD-7 adding a stereo delay. Enjoy !

  • Hi,

I realize this is an old video, but what I want to ask is, can you use the Dark Energy CV to control the pitch of the MF-107? Does it track well? I have heard that the MF-107 has a really hot/loud output, and was wondering if I can use the Dark Energy as a CV controller for the MF-107 and attenuator before I take its output back into the input of a Moog Slim Phatty.

    Nice music by the way!

  • @nectariosm

Sorry, i think you do not understand quite well how works the MF-107. Its pitch is not controlled by cv but by the frequency of an external audio source. In my video is use the audio output of a Dark Energy to drive the MF-107. But i could have used a guitare playing one note at a time or a oboe instead of the Dark Energy.

  • @GruithuisenCityMan The MF-107 has a frequency input, I am pretty sure that you can use this input for the VCO of the MF-107 to track. Apparently this is possible by adding the CV output upgrade on the little phatty. But this upgrade is not available on the Moog Slim Phatty, hence my question as I am looking for a cheap MIDI>CV converter to enable me to track the VCO on the MF-107.

  • @nectariosm

My mistake ! You're right ! There is only ONE oscillator in the FreqBox. I have made some new experiments and, well, you're right, i must admit it, there only one VCO in the MF-107. Anyway you're right too about driving the VCO by the CV1 of the DE. But, by the way, the loudness of this VCO will be following the loudness of the external audio source...

  • nice set up i am thinking of getting the freq box and putting together a simi modular synth

I already got the mf 101 and midi murf with the mp-201 foot pedal

but most of the sound demos i hear on you tube are to harsh and fuzzy sounding

this is the smoothist sounding freq box demo i have heard

    keep it up

  • @mathbsound

Actually, you can do a lot of things in a lot of ways with the FreqBox. And you have surely already noticed that you can settle the waveform to your needs. But that is only a beginning, because you can create a wide variety of sounds with the FreqBox and from it, by filtering or modifying the sound, and there is an awful lot of ways to do it. Adding a mf101 and a midi murf is indeed a good manner to put together a nice little modular synth. You should add a dark energy too...

Yes, i have three doepfer dark energy and no dark time. That's because i create my sequences with virtual sequencers that i build in Plogue Bidule. But that's not to say that the dark time is not a good sequencer. It's a very good sequencer. And with a dark energy, it's a killer.

  • @llllbserkllll

    Hahaha !!! :-)))

No, it's just so great to play some synths sitting down on the floor in a empty room. Try it !

  • Did you had to sell your last chair to buy it?
