Just a little nitpick, but it's actually "sidechaining", not "chainlink".
I think a stronger link between chillwave and french house are their mutual use of old funk samples, but where french house would increase the pitch and tempo, chillwave does the opposite.

Very nice. The only thing missing for me was they pulled the back beat out of the chorus. There could have been a very nice build up to that....

@P0YSiN That's my dream. I do not need money from my music and I certainly won't change the way my music sounds for money or because the big label exec asks for me to make my album more commercial. Oh yes, it happens all the time and it certainly happened with this FOster The People album. When you are a musician who loves music you do it because you love to create things not for a big money record deal.

it has to do with what some call "ducking" or chainlink compression,
and other compression effects like "gating". This is the breathing or glowing
effect that characterizes glo-fi, which has it's origin in French House.
