20gal Reef Tank

Here's my soon to be SPS reef. Just waiting for the cycle to complete before I add any corals.

Equipment:
20L w/ 20L as sump/fuge using Herbie method overflow. 2x150W MH pendants burning 14000K lamps (stock Current brand...for now). Appx. 1650gph turnover in display...thats over 80X (assuming modded Tunze 6025 puts out 1000gph). Tunze 9010 skimmer, Eheim 1250 return and JBJ ATO in sump.

Livestock:
20lb Solomon and 8lb Fiji live rock in display. Chaeto and ~5lb rubble in fuge. Astrea & Margarita Snails.

and yeh it would do fine without an anemone short term but when you do get a anemone get a rose bubble tip anemone because maroons love them... i have a mated pair and spawned successfully 3 times and they love their anemone to bits

do you need a protein skimmer for a twenty gallon beacuse i want to convert from freshwater to saltwater and by a maroon clownfish and a baby fuzzy dwarf lionfish(and then obviously buy a bigger tank) but in the short term would the clownfish do ok without a anenome?
