《碧血青天珍珠旗》是承接大受歡迎的《碧血青天楊家將》之作，因《碧血青天楊家將》的收視及口碑均極佳，ATV遂於此劇還未播畢便立即開拍續集，並於1994年尾緊接推出­，同樣廣受歡迎。此劇由多位當紅藝員領銜主演，包括劉松仁、呂頌賢、萬綺雯、甄志強、徐少強、麥麗紅、譚炳文、潘志文、鮑起靜、李香琴、王豔娜及蔡濟文等，陣容可謂空前強­勁；加上是ATV一哥一姐呂頌賢及萬綺雯罕有的古裝劇演出，更是難得。此劇的製作班底亦來頭不少，除有曾為ATV製作多部出色古裝電視劇的楊紹鴻監製，亦有梁立人擔任故事­策劃，梁天擔任製作顧問，徐二牛擔任武指，還找來電影導演陳木勝負責外景特技製作，更有ATV最受歡迎劇集《我和殭屍有個約會》的冼志偉及陳十三擔任編導及編劇。
劇情講述相傳得珍珠旗者可得天下，宋仁宗為此命楊宗保（徐少強）尋回珍珠旗。保巧遇聲稱藏有珍珠旗的孟旭（江圖），並要保引見仁宗以呈獻之。豈料旭借機行刺仁宗，保雖拼死­護駕，但仁宗仍受重傷，英王（蔡濟文）污衊保與旭合謀，將其押往監牢。佘太君（李香琴）求救包拯（譚炳文），並令桂英（麥麗紅）護送身懷六甲的靈兒（王艷娜）急逃，以保楊­家血脈，靈與廣在荒野重逢，豈料襄陽王（王戎）手下林雲（龍貫天）帶同胡家四虎追至，要得珍珠旗並欲殺害二人，幸狄青（劉松仁）拔刀相助，廣被捕，靈兒產下一子後死去。後­包拯不負眾望救出保，此時珍珠旗重現西夏，保與青前往取之，遇一失憶男子（呂頌賢），三人肝膽相照結為兄弟，後失憶男子記起自己乃西夏王，三兄弟遂成仇敵，為珍珠旗而勢不­兩立。珍珠旗究竟花落誰家？誰人能稱霸天下？

Long existed the legend that one can overlord the world with the help of the Banner of Hegemony. During the search for this banner under Song Emperor's decree, Tsung-Po Yang takes back a professed owner who turns out to be an assassin to severely injure the emperor, which brings Tsung-Po to jail term as an accused traitor.

In the hope of getting some help from Judge Bao, Po's daughter-in-law Ling runs away in pregnancy and unfortunately encoutners some mob working for the ambitious King of Xiangyang who is plotting conspiracy, but is lucky enough to be rescued by patriotic General Ching Dik, who then takes their message to Judge Bao and eventually have the Yangs rescue. At this moment, the Banner of Hegemony appears in Western Xia, as Ching and Po are ordered to bring it back. On their way, they met Yun-ho Lee, Kign of Western Xia who is suffering temporary amnesia and they become sworn bothers with him. Later, Yun-ho recovers from amnesia and turns back against his brothers to strive for the Banner. A bloody war is about to begin.
