During a 1958 tour break Buddy sang this song with Jerry Lee Lewis on piano and a fan tape recorded part of the performance. Very rare stuff here. Enjoy :-)

  • I'm almost certain they can fix this recording up. It sounds like the original tape has been stretched, it's all warped sounding. I guess, since it was a fan's recording, it was probably never duplicated until it was finally converted to digital, and for all those decades, it was probably played countless times.

  • @Feelin2nice Hey Ray Charles is great, but youre talking about Buddy Holly, one of the most infulential people in Rock n Roll. This quality is terrible, but Buddy had his own style and was a great artist.

  • today is thanksgiving '11 and i want to give thanks to buddy for giving us all his great music. the joy his music has given me is imeasureable to say the least

  • Oh dear!!

  • This version is an absolute insult to Ray Charles. I know the recording it suspect, but even the clearer parts are laughable. Great, he was influenced by Charles. And I guess he gets props for singing a song from the great Mr. Charles. But this sounds horrible.

The real version touches my soul. This made my skin crawl.

  • VIRGOPOWER (and Buddy Holley was a Virgo).

  • Jerry and Buddy have played "Hallelujah, I Love Her So" in this same day.

  • who is buddy talking to at the end? will we ever know?

  • @handjive58 ..if you listen carefully at the end of the clip he replies "yeah"....

  • at the end, who asks buddy "you like this ray charles, dont you" ?? i guess we'll never know?
