Body Code is a selection of biomedical animations that explore the human body at the microscopic and molecular scale. Body Code was designed for museum and art gallery exhibition, with the goal of reaching public audiences who do not usually seek out or are exposed to the details of scientific knowledge. Since inception in 2003, these animations have exhibited in over 30 museums and art galleries around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art (USA), Museum of Design (Germany), Centre Pompidou (France), Shanghai Zendai Museum of Modern Art (China), Art Center Nabi (Korea) and the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (Australia).

  • allright. as a genetic engineer i think i can explain. the one you see as blue protein is a helicase (unwinds the two strands of DNA) and each strand is written with complementary nucleotides. but the problem is, this "writing" can only be in one direction (from 5' to 3'). it is ok for leading strand but lagging strand has to be written in fragments. that other proteins you see are clamps, clamp loader, primases and polymerases. it is just the solution of evolution to a daily problem :)

  • Simply mind blowing. Some people say that details like this takes away the mystery, but I can accept losing some mystery when the results of what is really happening are so mind-blowingly beautiful.

  • @hakimrie hmm no allah has nothing to do with it. Allah doesnt even know that the earth orbits the sun, so i think its highley unlikely that he could build molecular machines

  • This is an amazing video. As a biology teacher and professor, I'd like to see more of these types of animations. They make everything so much more clear. A bit more explanation might be helpful. At 2:57, the DNA is undergoing replication. First it must unzip to expose one strand of the original DNA, then nucleotides are added in by specific proteins molecules in order to create a new strand of DNA.

  • It would be so helpful if your videos were narrated!!! I really like looking at them, though!

  • Would you please explane what's happening at 2:57 and on? DNA folds into helix and unfold - what's the point?

    And awsome video, thnx!

  • subhaanallah

  • nice video
