The GOP likes to point to Texas as a model for how great Tort Reform really is. After all, Karl Rove spent most of the 1980's turning the Texas court system into a Republican-controlled gaggle of cronies that consistently ruled in favor of big business. But he was able to sell tort reform to the voters by saying that it would lower healthcare costs, which would mean more money and better services to Texas citizens. Well lo and behold, Karl couldn't keep that promise, and now Texas has one of the most expensive, and most dangerous,

@Wintermute01001 After a 12-month absence, Michael Steele finally blurted out the phrase "tort reform" last night on television. This was after Lawrence O'Donnell pointed out that the GOP's new ideas for health care reform are exactly the same as the Democrats' changes - brilliant.

The Congressional Budget Office found that over 10 years, tort reform would save $54 billion. In 2008 alone, we spent $2.3 TRILLION dollars on health care. So over ten years, tort reform will save TWO PERCENT of what we spent in one year. That's why Dems oppose tort reform, because it won't accomplish jack shit.

thesparitan: Please educate yourself. The correct spelling is "two ideas in their head", not "two ideas in there head".

Malpractis Laws had existed in CA for 30 years to protect doctors, but Health care cost had continue to spiral up. 39% increase by Bluecross this march. A couple in the 50s paid approx $1700/mth more than mortgage. What a JOke.

In Pennsylvania 24.2 million for 2 tresspassers who tresspassed on railroad proerty and fucked with some electrified lines and got burned. They should hvae PAID THE company or done time for their crime after the crooks recovered. But no greedy lawyers, corrupt juries and judges keep raping the US
