once you know them. I'm always looking for something new to learn, and I think art loses its flavor once you think you know everything. Digital painting, or any kind of painting for that matter, is new to me, and studying this video was part of learning something new and applicable. :D

Oh, no problem. :) I think it's really only those of us that live art rather than just love it that truly understand its more intricate nature. Art, as a whole, defies definition; to attempt to define it is to trivialize its true meaning. It's as much a thing of individuality as it is of civilizational importance, so I've never attributed it to competition, one person being better than another. Personally, I've found it to be a matter of skill filtered through know-how, to break the rules

I meant "an" instead of "and" of course.
There may be some mistakes remaining though, sorry for my bad english.

I couldn't agree more! You summed it up very well.
I'm indeed never satisfied with my work and always trying to improve, though I'm somehow proud when I finally can call and artwork "done"...
I really have a very long way to go before doing really "good art" (though this is pretty subjective) and I hope I'll never stop learning and improving. This is the best part of "art" to me.
Thank you for your very interesting comment !
The fact is that you'll never really call yourself a good artist. Not if you truly are, anyway. I've been doing art all my life, and there's still a universe of things I need to learn and master, and I'm sure the same goes for Diane here. The truth is that every true artist is proud of their work, but never satisfied with it. There is always room for growth.
