  • I believe the 567 engine has a Roots blower instead of a turbocharger?

  • That's correct but I thought that there were also 567 engines with turbo chargers in the United States.

  • sounds like a hedge strimmer

  • Weird comparison ;-)

Personally I would compare the sound to a circle saw

  • The 66 sounds rubbish next to these, when i give the throttle notch 8 they are not as loud

  • The 567 engine (non turbocharged) is for me the best sounding diesel engine although it's by far not as powerful as the latest 710 engine that is used in class 66 and other modern diesel locomotives, which of course is logical. The first 567 was developed in 1938 and the first 710 in 1984 :-)

I hope the 1800 will stay in service for a few more years.

  • Excellent. My adrenaline levels go up and down in synchrony with the engine revs.

  • I love the sound of that screaming roots blower. It's even louder than the engine.

  • super SON : vivement que MARKLIN nous en propose aussi sonorisées!

  • this is a 567 engine with a Roots blower, no question about it. nice sound :-)

  • Actually we have some turbocharged 567 engines here in the UK the class 59's which are the older and more powerful sisters to the 66
