The same Mexican houseboy later went on to become Metallica's bassist.

Actually, it's about how major label corporate CEOs have gotten rich throughout all recorded music history by financially ass-raping not only the public, but the artists themselves, through bad contracts involving "advances" and their reimbursements for EVERYTHING. When the majors meet their inevitable fate, it will be a good thing for the artists, not so much through a potential internet direct marketing bonanza, but through the complete elimination of major label debt.

I'm aware. Thank you though.
Most bands I purchase albums from either have their own label, or are from fairly small labels that don't pay for the recording process or lend out money. They simply offer artists a home for a little bit of publicity. They do take profits, but a fair amount rather than a selfish amount.

It wasn't just that, early Metallica were huge supporters of bootlegging. They used to encourage people to bootleg their concerts, and this was like, a massive U-turn on their roots.

On those cd's that U buy @ live show? I got some bad news 4 U. If the cd has a copyright disclaimer or a record co. logo on it, the record co. is still sucking their profit. Record co's act like a bank lender. The record co. lends the artists so much money 2 pay 4 studio time 2 record the cd, then they give the artist money 2 mix the cd, & lastly, they give the artist money 2 pay 4 the most expensive process of all, mastering, & the artist has 2 pay it back. artists stay n debt 2 the record co.

Hahahaha,.. stupid hypocrite Lars,... in the past he bragged on interviews about how in the early days James Hetfield spent weekends at his house taping all the vinyl shit his daddy bought him (is the same thing now, only faster with the new technology). How no one slammed this hard fact on his face when his feud with Napster started is beyond me. Checkmate, Lars!
