You can technically learn everything on it! The flex is great for making the board lively when doing simple things like cruising/carving and dancing. I personally learned ALL my slides as well as flatland tricks on this board and would not have given up my time with this board for anything!

Alright, I'm going to interject this brewing argument. There's nothing wrong with the dervish except that it's one of those boards everybody seems to want but isn't actually that good when it comes to specializing in disciplines such as freeriding and dh. Since freeriding and dh seem to be 2 of the most popular styles, companies such as Rayne and Landyachtz are much better suited. Still, the dervish is an amazing beginner board.
