I have been kind of slack about uploading lately, but this one should make you guys happy. These are some alternate takes that I recently uncovered. I am not quite sure on recording dates on some of these, but I am 99% positive they were recorded between 1975 and 1980, particularly, in 1980. The songs:

Solitude -- This was the song that inspired Stranger's Room and later I'm Losing You. This take is probably considerably older than those takes, perhaps taking shape in 1975-1977 or even earlier. You can hear John's sorrow and despair in this song, perhaps more so than the songs that were inspired by this song.

For a cleaner version of this song that I cleaned up, check out this video:

Fred, this one's for you.

  • It's lennon. the playback is a little fast.

  • @Allrightteam

The reason for this could be because of issues with the original recording. There were several instances in his other home demos from 1975-1980 where the batteries in his ghetto blaster were dying or did die while he was recording and thus distorted the actual speed of the demo which was then later edited digitally to compensate for the loss in speed.

  • why do people keep saying this isn't john??? it is MOST DEFINITELY john.

love you john, we miss you....

  • Of course it's John Lennon. I only feel like this and want to cry when I listen to that voice.

  • sounds like john to me

  • This isn't Lennon. But it may be Usher.

  • @NeilFraudstrong You hit the nail on the head, man. Could have also happened during the transfer process... tape to tape, tape to CD, CD to MP, MP to youtube etc.

  • NOPE! THAT IS NOT JOHN, BUT KRON, LENNON'S LONG LOST BROTHER WHO LIVED JUST NEXT DOOR TO HUGH GRANT'S UNCLE'S FLATMATE WHO KNEW A TAXI DRIVER WHO KNEW SOMEONE I USED TO KNOW.

  • @NeilFraudstrong Thanks, Chris. and yes, HT, knowing John has been the single most extraordinary gift of my life. We understood each other--even without speaking. I have no use for bootlegs, but that is definitely NOT what Chris posts. I am so grateful to Chris for sharing these wonderful recordings. They are more an insight into what John was really thinking and feeling than they are a study in how he worked. Either way, they, too, are an extraordinary gift, with love from John to us.
