Any place hauling trailers for a living don't trust the Fords with the powerstroke.Use mostly Dodge Duallies with the Cummins and Chevy/GMC duallies with the Duramax.Fix for the the 6.0 and 6.4 powerstroke problems is to ditch them and put a Cummins in it's place, there is a conversion kit to do this. The 6.0 and 6.4 powerstrokes are known for blowing up with no warning at all with rods through the block.I was told about one with the 6.0 with 30,000 miles on it that blew up with no warning

@PWRSTR0KER2008 i got a 6.0 with 170,000 and so far all ive had go wrong is my ficm going bad the egr cooler did have a hole so i deleated all the egr shit mine pulls the lawn care trailers everyday and i run the balls off it and so far so amazing compared to my uncles 6.4 the 6.0 whoops its ass all day long

I myself like the 6.0 and the 6.4, I think they are a great design other than the emissions they have to pass, they would last much longer if they didnt have to pass that. With head studs, egr block and some tuning, they will outperform and outrun any 7.3 out there and the 6.4 can do even more!

We have lots of diesels. Semis, flatbeds, tractors and trucks and powerstrokes are shitty from the factory.we have internationals. Cummins. Perkins diesels and kubotas. And a real diesel is a inline 6. And the ford truck itself is outdated and has looked the same since 99. So go fuk urself

@rsr530 do ya really know what you are talking about?

lol i like how the guys who actually own the 6L diesel like them and admit they do have a few problems but are a nice motor, and the guys who dont own them instantly call them shit, weve had a few 6Ls n still have one, there a nice motor

If anyone is a ford mechanic and want's a cheap truck with a failing high pressure oil pump today is your day.
-
@bangnstangs Search youtube for POWER STROKE HELP or POWERSTROKEHELP look at their channel. There are important recomendations you need to follow, I don't own a Powerstroke, never have never will lol. But,it could happen again you could blow your motor.

@rsr530 What are you talking about, two headbolts per cyl? Not even Ford would be stupid enough to attempt to seal the compression into a gas engine with two bolts. Even four bolts per cyl is putting serious limitations on sealing capacity. Thats why GM put 6 bolts on the LSX block, and thats a gas engine.

yeah i think ill stick to my trusty old cummins. if i where to buy a ford id go look for a nice used 7.3
we had two 05 f-450 6.0's that the oil pump exploded at the same time. we never did find what went through them. My best guess is that a piece of injector d-ring went though it. the pump is made out of spring steel so when it explodes it can take out a lot of parts quick.

How is the 6.4 so far? Is it at least better than the 6.0? How do you like them overall?

so far they arent as bad the 6.0 when they first came out. we are starting to see more of them come in for the same probelms. they really arent too bad to work on, its just alot more time consuming then the 6.0.
