The original fairy tales were quite dark actually, the Grimm Brothers took a bit of the edge off and then Disney totally changed them and made them end happily ever after. In the first Sleeping Beauty she was raped and there were elements of cannibalism in it. And in Cinderella her sisters end up having their eyes plucked out by those cute little blue birds. I would say that's a bit dark
