First, we would to thank Gul, Mala & their family for giving us the opportunity to experience a Sindhi wedding. This was our first time filming a Sindhi wedding. Yes, if we look back in time we did film Balbir & Sharuna's wedding but that was a mix. This was a pure Sindhi wedding.

Sindhi people are Sanatani Hindus and do not follow Hindus rites strictly. In fact, Sindhi weddings are mostly based on Vedic rites as the wedding ceremony reflects on the glimpses of Hinduism and Sufism.
And through our experience, we can say the wedding is a lavish affair, characterized by great pomp and show.

Traditionally, there are several rituals and customs that are performed pre, per and post on the wedding day...such as, 'Pakki Mishri, Dev Bithana, Saanth/ Wanwas, Mehndi, Sangeet & Saagri. One tradition amazed us where the parents of groom had to get married first, before their son gets married. We found that such traditions unite the bond of the family and colorful customs dominate the wedding place, making it an interesting and enjoyable event.

Gul & Mala's love story started in Hong Kong and that is where their highlights were shot. & if you were to watch the video closely, there is a scene where Mala is saying 'Bye' to Hong Kong...in that scene, Mala says bye to Hong Kong as she is following Gul to her dream destination wedding in Langkawi Island, Malaysia. Then as you continue to watch, Mala wakes up from her dream and says "I'm getting married". All this while she thought it was a dream, not knowing that her dream wedding was already at her doorstep and she was getting married!.

Hmm...we feel the theme colour for this wedding was blue. Everything in this wedding was custom- made from labels to food. We had parties every night and it did not end till 5 a.m. We really enjoyed ourselves in the wedding and we hope by watching this video, you enjoy it too.
This is the highlights video of the entire 4 days ceremony, which was held from the 22nd. June till 26th. June 2011, in Westin, Langkawi.

Best wishes to Gul & Mala.

Enjoy viewing!!!

Best regards,
Greg & team
