Vertical Lookup (vlookup) functions are a part of every day business life. It is hard to imagine an invoice system, for example, that does not use some variation of =vlookup()

Watch as I demonstrate how to build your invoice using =vlookup()

  • how to influence if not put the phrase "false" at the end of this formula?

  • @FreeExcelFormulas

In the VLOOKUP Function, the 4th Argument (True or False) is optional - not required.

When you use FALSE - the VLOOKUP will return an "Exact Match" for the value in the leftmost column of the lookup array.

If you leave the 4th argument out, VLOOKUP will use TRUE as the 4th argument. TRUE is the default value and it will look for the "first closest match" it finds in the leftmost column of your lookup array.
