If you follow this guys methods, you'll get lost. Time 2:20 this guy tells you "standing with heels to back of stick, with sun on your back, North is directly in front of you... this is true when you are in the Northern Hemisphere."
That is false, and here is why;
It's all about solar declination and position of the sun. If your LAT is 10 degrees North, and the date is 21 June, solar declination is 23 degrees North, "sun on your back" means you are pointed South.
Special forces? Not.

The stick shadow method is a ballpark method for getting your bearings. It isn't reliable during early / late hours at far North locations.
