I was asked to show some of my artwork by a friend so here it is. I gave it a gothic feel with respect to content and tried incorporating various techniques to create the right mood. Here is what I've done:

Midnight in the Garden: I started with the basic sketch and from working with an earlier piece, I knew that I could put a video of a candle into the piece, to give the woman a more "real" feel. After it was done, I found that the piece was further enhanced by adding "eyes" in the darkness.

Sketches: woman, vines, teeth in the darkness
Computer generated artwork: eyes in the darkness, candle glow, lighting, melted wax on woman's arms
video: the candle

In the Shadow of My Beloved: I wanted to somehow use some footage of a lightning storm that I had acquired this summer and this seemed like the way to do it. It was also a lesson in artwork as the figure of the woman was drawn with the skeleton under the paper I sketched her on. (If you look really close, you might see that she has vampire fangs during the lightning flash.)

sketches: woman, skeletons
computer generated artwork: eye glows, lightning bolt, lighting
video: background trees and lightning flashes

Dark Baptism: This one was a bit of a fail for me. The original concept involved using live footage of a figure with billowing robes, but that fell through. Instead, I drew the figure of the woman. However, this short did allow me to experiment somewhat with lighting and was a good lesson in perspective, as I managed to get her to fly along the path I had created.

Sketches: tombstones, grim reaper statue, crypt with gargoyle, path, ghost woman
computer generated artwork: lighting
photograph: background trees

Moonlight Cleansing: I had a strange idea for this one: What if I filmed a clay figure getting splashed with water and then superimposed one of my drawings? In the end I found that I should have used more water, but I think the effect I was looking for was somewhat achieved.

clay sculpture: woman, rock woman leans on
sketches: woman, rock woman leans on, tree
photograph: moon
computer generated artwork: lighting, trees covering moon
video: woman on the rock (clay sculpture), water

She Steps Beyond: I used a dark background and lighting to create the sense of a full room with only 3 drawings (the candlesticks are duplicates) and superimposed video footage of red candles to create the light sources. This resulted in a warm atmosphere that is in stark contrast to the cool image of the ghost.

sketches: candlesticks, window, coffin, ghostly woman
computer generated artwork: lighting, ghost "phasing"
video: candles
