Yusuf Islam is one of my favorite song writers of all time. His songs are beautiful. How can I or anyone else be sure of the reliability of the claims made in this video, given the reputation that this singer has for being a champion promoter of peace and tolerance? This interests me, because I love to learn.

@MrPutzina I saw the original programme and he did say the fatwa didnt just apply to rushdie but to other people , he also said he would like to see rushdie burned he also said that he would tell khomeni where he was if he saw rushdie .

he was also on several news programmes at the time and I believe newsnight , he was one of the main people who whipped up the satanic verses affair .

@MrPutzina Well here's the problem he did say that he would carry out the execution of Salman Rushdie if he was ordered to do so by a judge in an Islamic State. I have nothing against Islam or Muslims but this guy is not Mr. Peacetrain. Any time, any religion makes someone weird and alters their behavior it is not a good thing.

@MrJohnnyrace Yeah but the incident I mentioned was back in 2004. What I mean is he is obviously allowed in the US NOW bc he was at the rally in DC last fall (2010). Unless something has changed since last fall.

@MrJohnnyrace When did this happen? It must have been recently bc he was at the "Stop The Insanity" (can u believe that name?) rally in DC back in the fall. I do know he had been blocked at one point back in 2004, when the Maine authorities at Bangor(?) airport sent him packing upon arrival.

@ThymzaWayston I dont support terrorism, but his music is beautiful.He is a wonderfl artist, and we dont know for sure if the whole truth is out. The world gives a person dispair and its not surprising that they would turn against the US or UK etc..war machine.Truth and lies are being mixed together to confuse the people and spread propaganda.Just pray for wisdom!!!!
