David Campbell-Bannerman, UKIP's lead candidate for Eastern England and their Deputy Leader is caught on tape nodding and then appearing to affirm more than once that he thinks believing in climate change is "a cult". He also claims that the ice on Venus is melting too (average temperature 500 degrees C) and that "the astrologer" Patrick Moore told him it's OK, because it's all something to do with the sun. Filmed at the European Election hustings of the PCS union, Eastern region, 14th May 2009, Norwich.

  • The reasoned argument is that man made climate change is unproven. The temperature of the planet is exactly correlated with the sun-spot activity on the sun. I have an open mind and believe we should be responsible for maintaining our environment the best we can, but the global warming propagandists are a cult. I can't see how anyone could disagree with that. After all, there has never been a proper independent investigation by any major government on the issue, including the European Union.

  • Well the Global Warming fanatics are acting like it is a cult. If you don't agree you are condemned. If you have scientist who show that solar activity has more to do with global warming than the activities of man. Those scientist are threatened. If you expose how Gore is making a fortune off the fear mongering and has a massive carbon footprint, those people threatened. So yes they act like a cult protecting their leader who is living the high life off the worship of his followers.

  • climate change what a load tosh

  • @greatbritain22 It is obviously true that past climate change was caused by natural forcings. However, to argue that this means we can’t cause climate change is like arguing that humans can’t start bushfires because in the past they’ve happened naturally. Greenhouse gas increases have caused climate change many times in Earth’s history, and we are now adding greenhouse gases to the atmosphere at a increasingly rapid rate.

  • @greatbritain22 Climate reacts to whatever forces it to change@the time; humans are now the dominant forcing.A common skeptic argument is that climate has changed naturally in the past, long before SUVs&coal power plants, therefore humans cannot be causing global warming now.Interestingly,peer-reviewed research into past climate change comes to the opposite conclusion. To understand this, you have to ask why climate has changed. It doesn't happen by magic.Climate changes when it’s forced to change.

  • @UKIPNorthWest Globally averaged temperature now is higher than global temperature in medieval times While the Medieval Warm Period saw unusually warm temperatures in some regions, globally the planet was cooler than current conditions. What proof do you have that concludes Roman era as being warmer than today.

  • @greatbritain22 But do you know what actualy causes climate change? And please don't just say its natural

  • @UKIPNorthWest The MWP was causes by increased solar irradiance. However solar irradiance has been decreasing since the 1950's while global temps are still rising. Try reading some peer-reviewed scientific research

  • The Voteforpolicies website clearly demonstrates how unpopular and in my opinion: farcical, the policies of the UKIP Party are. UKIP will never bring anything new to Britain but Euro scepticism, prejudice to those born abroad and segregation.

  • Campbell-Bannerman is also a cult. Or something with a very similar spelling...

  • Climategate !!!!

  • GOD SAKE YOU FREAKIN IDIOT

Patrick Moore has studied planets for years, who cares if he is an astronomer or a astrologer, have you not seen his Sky at night program that has been on TV for years if not decades!

Where he regularly discussing astronomy NOT astrology with experts?!?!?!?!?!?
