JACKIE 60 was begun in 1990 by local night life luminaries CHI CHI VALENTI and JOHNNY DYNELL, dancer/ choreographer RICHARD MOVE and London fashion designer KITTY BOOTS. Disillusioned with the stale, over-commercialized state of the New York night, the four set out to create a club environment that was performance oriented and distinctly underground in tone.

  • This is why I moved to NYC in 95' My friend and I were home when we walked into that fabulous house in meat packing district before it turned into a mall.

  • @lalacurious I remember Billy's and J60. :)

  • I was lucky to experience Jackie 60 when I visited NYC in 93 and it was one of the best club experiences I've had. I miss those fun days in clubland.

  • Area beats J60. There was nothing like Area. circa 1984

  • Went to J60 in back in the day a couple of times. The 90's underground club scene was phenemenol!!! the music, the people be it NY; London or wherever,,,I dont go out nowdays but I know theres nothing like those days left....just a bunch of kids sitting around a bottle of expensive vodka listening to re-editions of the music of our era.....was great while it lasted!

  • The music there was fantastic, but it was REALLY fucking HOT in there, I don't think they had A/C and it was always packed to the gills...(from what I remember - I don't remember very much from that era, ha ha).

  • Thanks for posting this, loved it.

  • Oh my god!!! I loved Jackie 60 back in the day. I religiously went every week!!!! I miss J60!!

  • what a blast from the past. i used to go to jackie in the early 1990's on tuesday's and the fee was 5 bucks with the flyers and sometimes the bouncer would let me and my friends go in for free. One of the best parties in the history of New York. After Jackie going to the bagel place on 14 was a must. But, one thing missing from this documentary: Where is the DJ? Where is Johnny Dynelle?
