Alonso has a great set of solitary bee houses at the center. Many of the attracted solitary bee species are native to North America, unlike the introduced social European Honeybee, and are important pollinators for our native plants. Viewers have pointed out that some of the bees in this video are an Asian species not native to North America, the Japanese Hornfaced Bee (Osmia cornifrons). Recorded on April 4, 2009 using a Flip Video camcorder.
