Texas State University Employee Breaks Into Dorm

A maintenance guy that works in the residence halls on campus at Texas State University broke into my room at San Marcos Hall back on October 18th. He looked for things he can take and put in his pockets, but he didn't take anything. I assumed he was looking for cash or drugs. For a while I had reason to believe that someone was going into my room. There had been multiple events that lead me to believe this. I initially thought it was my roommate, so i downloaded this program called Vitamin D Video. It allows me to turn my webcam on my computer into a security cam. I ran it every time i left my place for about a week and that's when I caught this guy.
I reported him to the residence director of my hall and the news made it all the way up to the director of residential life. He was fired a couple of days later. I also filled out a police report and he was arrested.

The reason why I posted this video is because this kind of stuff happens all the time at all universities and it gets swept under the rug. This kind of stuff happens more often than you would think. Most people don't know it happens to them. Most likely this guy wasn't just targeting my room. He had to have been hitting other rooms too since he obviously didn't find what he was set out to get.
Don't let this happen to you! I urge everyone who lives in a dorm to be aware of your surroundings.

Obviously he was looking around where he shouldn't have been, but what makes you say that he would have stolen money and/or drugs if you had any in your room? Did he steal from you before that?

I don't have nor have I ever had any drugs or cash in my room. It's a college campus. He's bound to find some! But he's never taken anything from me before, I'm not too sure why he kept hitting the same place if I have nothing for him.

I know that custodian worker and I was so surprised when I heard the news. He used to work at my residence hall last year, but was transferred this year to San Marcos Hal. I'm glad that he wasn't ever my custodian.

this is crazy.. he cleaned my bathroom. my door was mysteriously unlocked TWICE after i was PRETTY SURE i had locked it... guess he was the culprit!!
