I like beta, it runs alot faster in ubuntu for me than alpha did before. i'm currently running beta 1.1_02 on an Asus Eee 1005HAB with 2gb ram and an intel atom n270 1.66 ghz processor(using the OpenJDK, not Oracle JRE). and amazingly, with far fog and fast graphics, it runs at an average of 200 fps, clocked down to 50-60 because of my integrated video card. I don't see why everybody complains about minecraft running slow.
