Asheron's Call: A Complete Overview (Part 3 of 3)

Asheron's call is an MMORPG which I feel in today's market, is poorly explained, so I decided to do something about it. This video pretty much outlines the major features, mechanics, and details of the game that a new and even returning player might not know, and also includes stuff that even veteran players don't know about. There is so much to this game beneath the surface that it just has to be explained. Anyways, enjoy this documentary style show!

@Interv24 while this series of videos does explain most of the basic mechanics of the game, it is really out of date now that so many new features have been introduced. There are many new races (shadows, gearknights, undead, empyreans, and soon olthoi), new skills (gearcrafting, two-handed, void magic), and changes to existing skills (imperil lenses for monster appraisal skill)... just to name a few.

You only focused on skills and combat leaving the sandbox part of the game without review wich is in my opinion what makes it stand out over the titpical wow-clone MMO's that dominate the market. So bad covering imo.

@jakobo88 What would you consider sandbox features in this game? When I think sandbox, I think of games like "Minecraft", "Spore", and "Second Life". I'm more than happy to get your input.

@jackpipsam At the moment, the housing system is pretty much the "banking" system of Asheron's Call. You also have the option of additional storage via use of "mules" (characters whos sole purpose is to hold/sell stuff), since you are given 9 character slots.

The developers have said that they want to put an in-town banking system in place, but haven't announced it officially... yet...

Alright, so based on your overview I feel I have a fairly good grasp on how the game works, and I think I like most of what I see, mostly the graphics and the combat. But, before I buy it, I would want to know a couple of things:

1. What will I be doing throughout the game? Are there quests, and how do they work, or is it just a grind to the max level?

2. Are there many/any new players, or will I be alone throughout most of the game? Is there a party system even?

Listen folks, give this game a chance... the graphics may not measure up to the new games like WOW, but the game play gives SOOOO many options that it more than makes up for it. This is NOT a difficult game to pick up and play, and the people in it are happy to help newcomers.

I was in the closed beta back in 99' and played a little after it went live. I loved the game, but I lacked friends and a lot of know how. Looks neat, and after seeing it come so far after all this time is really heart warming. Housing is pretty cool, almost like UO.

I always have been wondering what the name of the song is at the end. I remember hearing it 5 years ago and wanted to have it since but got exhausted trying to find the name.

AC is great, everybody tries to copy what WoW is doing or has done or the games WoW has copied as well, but nobody has tried to duplicate AC mechanics which are more well thought.

AC2 project was fail, all they had to do was give a better engine, controls, ui and user input control and AC gameplay is fine the way it is.
