An anthology of Jazz profiling the music of Jelly Roll Morton, Ma Rainey, Fats Waller, Benny Goodman, The Dorsey Brothers, Django Rheinhardt and countless other artists from the era.
All That Jazz, From New Orleans to New York is an anthology of Jazz music which prior to the popular swing era of the 1930s and '40s is often referred to as "early jazz." Through its origins before the turn of the 20th century, jazz had evolved from a regional music, central to New Orleans and its surroundings, to a musical style at the forefront of national and international popular music by the 1930s and 1940's. Included in this program are profiles and the music of Huddie 'Leadbelly' Leadbetter, Big Bill Broonzy, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Scott Joplin, Jelly Roll Morton, W.E. Burton, Joe King Oliver, Jonny Doods, Barrel House Five, Freddie Keppard, Willie 'Bunk' Johnson, Clarence Williams, Sydney Brechet, Sonny Boy Williamson, Bessie Smith, Ma Rainey, Fletcher Henderson, Paul Whiteman, Jimmy Lunceford, Fats Waller, Benny Goodman, The Dorsey Brothers, Johnny Doods, Django Rheinhardt, Ray Nance, Benny Carter, Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong.
Just an outstanding video, a lot of work for sure. Thanks for sharing

"Sho Siner's Drag," "Minleberg Joys." "BOOBIE WOOGIE STOMP" (!!), "Across the Tracke Blues," "Rose Rom," "His Eye Is on the Sparroz," "AHMEL ERTEGUM" (!!) I guess English is a second or third language to the folks who put this together. Again--nice editing--NOT!

also: "...white clarinet player Benny Goodman...although he didn't offer anything different from other similar groups such as the Dorsey Brothers...." "Barney Bigert" (!) Why dis' Benny Goodman's playing, you kidding me? Sheesh. I mean, we all have our preferences and favorites, but COME ON.

Very interesting. But I could do without some of the narrator's ill-conceived comments and mispronunciations, though, i.e. "Ella Fitzgerald, who would become one of jazz's biggest stars, in spite of her more or less commercial style," and "Jimmy Lun-sa-ford."

Très intéressant ! Un hommage au JAZZ, le vrai, alors que tant de musiques s'y réfèrent actuellement ...
