Another movie showing the dynamic color display observed after this cuttlefish died. The chromatophores seemed to trigger each other, creating a sort of cellular automaton on the skin of the dead cuttlefish.

  • Cuttlefish present two problems with regard to their care.

The first is so-called "butt burn". When startled, they scoot backwards, and in an aquarium with glass sides, they often bump into the glass, injuring themselves. The injuries can become infected. Better are tanks with opaque sides, like a pond

The more important issue is that, at least in the US, there currently are no sources for cuttlefish The only supplier went out of business over three years ago.

  • Conway's game of life.

  • An Alien if I've ever seen one! The frequency of the strobe appears like stop motion animation. Thank you for sharing. Just curious: How much extra effort does it take to add a cuttlefish to a saltwater tank?
