Because I live on the Gold Coast and we survive on tourism, we basically learned Japanese from grade 5 to 7 in primary school and it was compulsory which really focused on the basics of the language for 3 years. Though, now in high school and choosing my electives you really get to choose what you enjoy, and for me that's Japanese, I'm only 14 but I know quite a bit, I still think in 5 years of teaching they should be teaching us alot more. Thankfully I can rely on books.
