This song really tells it like it is. I hate it the way some of these people take a drug that's been prescribed for them,only to get high off of it instead of using it for it's purpose.I've seen people do that and the number one new prescribed "used to get high medicine"of course is none other than marijuana"pot". It's B.S.,how some people think it's ok to smoke pot,which in fact IT ISN'T.It stinks and it's stupid to smoke it.All it does is slow down the nervous system and impairs your thinking.

Wat700son,you bring up a good point.When I was in the Marine Corps,this pill called "antibuse" that some alcoholics have to take to curb their craving for alcohol,I had to administer to these people as a Drug Counselors assistant. Some of these alcoholics in our Battalion,would take more of these pills in a day than what was recommended or the dose regulation,then they would start depending on this medicine and after a while they were taking it to try to get high.

@MELONHEAD8458 and I'll just add to that-some of the most horrific drugs come from big pharma, they're called psychotropic drugs for depression/anxiety~ remember, there are no "side effects"...... what you read in the wrap sheets ARE the effects of these drugs~Peace Out

This song actually is about where substance abuse will lead you to"THE ROAD TO HELL". When I was in the Marine Corps,I was a drug counselor's assistant for 2 months temp assignment duty. My feet got messed up and they gave me that job,while I was on limited duty. That verse in the song about standing by the river but the water doesn't flow,it boils with every poison you can thing of.DRUGS BOILS WITH EVERY POISON YOU CAN THINK OF!!!! I've never done any drugs,not ever pot.I am totally against it

Apparently, Chris was going to join Dire Straits at one stage and they were going to call themselves Dire Rea, until someone thought better of it.
