why on earth are they not changing the pass if she can't do the whip whip through to double pike? like what coaches think "oh, she can't do it in practice so let's have her compete it". thank god nicole made it, but that could have been bad. really bad. like sharky's DLO bad.

there is some pain so bad, you can't suck it up.

There is so much wrong with this:
"Don't you think you should do a double layout without a spot?"
"Then you're gonna be choked by me if you miss it, so..."
Clearly, Sharky didn't feel like she could refuse to do the skill. She's what, 15, 16? And Donna Strauss is a dragon lady. Meanwhile, anyone with eyes could tell that Sharky had NO business doing the double layout. The result was predictable. Poor kid.

@ralucagymnast Yeah, my coaches weren't amazing people, they were the reason I quit. They rarely cared about the health of the gymnast unless it affected them winning. So you're daughter is very lucky to have had wonderful coaches.
The thing is, when a body part is injured, I don't think there's any such thing as "won't get worse." Any tiny crack in a bone, if pounded on enough, will develop into a full-on fracture.
As a volleyball starter, I was told to work through painful shin splints (tiny stress fractures in the shin bones), even though I could barely make my jumps and had to ice halfway through practice just to make it. Athletes need rest to be their best, not just practice.
