TV commercial from The Economist in India

The purpose of the commercial is to emphasise the thought that The Economist brings to life connections between world events that may not be overtly apparent and helps to interpret those connections. The film itself is based on the fact that a number of Chinese firms send workers from China to work in various projects in India. The film creatively expresses the connection that growing India-China projects may tomorrow lead to Chinese children learning Hindi, the main language spoken in India.

  • chinese children are taught hacking indian networks rather than speaking indian language.

  • Superb ad - This was how we studied English as kids. Our parents went beyond means to get us to convent schools. In future there could be a potential shift. The freedom might attract people in comunist nations. India and Pakistan might convince Terrorists and Naxals to give up arms. Politicians might get all their money back form Swiss bank. The Ad is very hopeful that rightfull space would be regained by India along with neigbouring nations - and who knows history might just repeat.

  • @Juggernautishere Well isn't that a little too harsh? I believe we have to be more practical, but that went out of the window the day we chose democracy with universal sufferage! That sort of thing does'nt work in a country with as many poor and illiterate people as ours. But it is too late now and there is no going back.

BTW China is not some great country,it is as corrupt as ours.Only difference being the job gets done despite all that corruption and filth!

Japan and S.Korean are Great IMO!!!!

  • @daniesunvip Only Indian poor are useless. They got 1 rupee rice while a middle class like me buys it at market rates(30rs/Kg I think). They have no reason to work or learn or earn.Just squeeze the middle classes more and then give it to poor. The middle classes end up emigrating if they can or live in silent suffering watching HBO on evening, sleeping through weekends and working 14 hours a day.In china if a coal miner dies, they clear the body,in India we give them 10lakh rupees compensation!Period

  • Chinese Character is'Hunan Public school'', but we can see so many tibet kids, and Himalaya mountain.

Why workers exported, cause Indian workers are useless.

    Bull shit~~~

  • I can't believ you guys!

Essentially what they are trying to say is not whether India would become a haven for immigrants like say the US or OZ is today but how our people lose jobs because the Chinese companies come here sell their products to us and employ their people here which is what this ad is trying to amplify by showig chinese kids learning Hindi in rural northern China as they would get manual jobs in India which should technically be taking these efforts to allievate poverty bk home!

  • i liked the music

  • @roseoverdrive
