  • Another great feature I left out of the video (not on purpose) was checkboxes in the file explorer. These are great controls to do multi-selection. The alternative is ctrl or shift, which are non-existant on a slate tablet and non-intuitive on any machine.

  • No, I'm not rich. Designers at Microsoft make less than designers do at other companies or design firms. And because the stock is flatlined, there's no big gain from options or stock awards.

  • And Sensiva copied Alias and Bill Buxton. And Apple copied the tablet features for their iphone. And tablet copied Newton. And everyone copies everyone because when it comes to things like this, most ideas have already been thought up and published in papers or built in products. The design challenge is to find solutions to meet the user needs you are trying to satisfy and make a unified experience. Building on the work of the HCI community is nessesary in this industry.

  • If anyone cares, I made this video to capture some of the cool things that my team did to try to make the tablet pc a little bit better. I'm a designer at Microsoft. Let the stones be thrown.

  • copied by gate way tablet >:O

  • WOW!

  • likely not so i wouldnt do it :P

  • when you upload from an xp to vista home premium of others, is the touch screen usable?

  • You should get a convertible (a tablet with a keyboard). That way you still have a keyboard to type your papers and reports on without using the school computers, and with the pen you can write your notes, annotate pdf's, draw, paint and a lot more without carrying loads of stuff in your book bag.

  • thanks for the upload. Im moving into my second year at collage and i dont know if i should buy a tablet with keyboard (to use for IT presentations) or if it would not come of much use and stick with a ordinary laptop

  • Great video. I have used a tablet for about 3.5 years, and have always appreciated the features. I just upgraded to Vista and it is a solid improvement. Nice job Paul and team!

  • can't wait for the video about Vista's DRM, datamining and TPM strategies :)
