I'm open to modern music, but I'm a Romanticist . . I have no problem using the 32' reed at the end of the Bach Dorian . .

I find Guillou's works to be over-studied and pedantic . . He's also technically a pianist, and too easily falls back to playing "Variations on a Theme of Hanon" . . Sort of like Mozart, who when he couldn't think of something cojent to say musically, would play scales until something came to him.

I appreciate you have sound knowledge in Guillou's music, but you still haven't answered my question... If you understand the music and hate it, you should be able to point out what you don't like about it. What is your understanding of this piece? Do you just not like Guillou's music, or do you not like modern music in general?

In fact, I'm so dopey that I actually didn't buy a recording - I bought a copy of the printed music. I'm going to learn it.

I've played the organ since I was 14 (30+ years) and I base my opinion on having studied Guillou's improvisational technique, performance style, transcriptions, original works, and where he fits in the context of modern organ music in France . .

If you're dopey enough to waste your money on a recording of this, well whoop-dee-doo for you . . .

It is sad that some people don't enjoy music like this. Amongst these people, some reject the music simply because they don't understand it, and the rest reject it because they understand and hate it. Which one are you, SuperElBorba?

I must confess that I love this piece so much that I've just bought a copy of the music, now enjoying. It's just too good - e.g. how can one not die for 1:00?

Where can I find the DVD of this? I notice Guillou wearing the same shirt in many of these video, so I guess they must be taken from the same DVD (or something like that).
