アスキー・メディアワークス創立２０周年記念作品
『アクセル・ワールド』

２０４６年、ニューロリンカーと呼ばれる携帯端末を用いることで生活の多くが仮想ネッ­トワーク上で行われるようになった世界。

だが、どんなに時代が進んでも「いじめられっ子」はなくならない......。ハルユ­キもそんな中学内格差（スクールカースト）最底辺に位置する一人であった。
ローカルネットの片隅で、ひたすらにスカッシュゲームに打ち込むだけの暗く陰鬱な日々­を過ごしていた彼だったが、ある日突然、校内一の有名人《黒雪姫》に声をかけられる。

「もっと先へ――《加速》したくはないか、少年」

彼女から謎のプログラム《ブレイン・バースト》を託され、《加速世界》の秘密を教えら­れたハルユキは、黒雪姫の『騎士』として戦うことを決意する......!!

Holy Sh!t a Fat Protagonist FTW!

There wouldn't be much setting him apart from other stereotypical male characters. Almost every anime has a male lead that follows the same pattern. They're all either unusually strong or have some special power or whatever. It gets boring.

Honestly I like seeing him fat. He still has plenty of skill despite being looked down on. He doesn't need powers of a handsome figure. All he needs are his friends supporting him, like a real person.

I just finished the anime and have to say that yes, it is bothersome that the style of his character, ignoring his weight, is so different from the other characters. I would of rather seen them keep his weight but have the graphical style be more in line with the rest of the anime.

Storyline was good though, he is a very weak willed character at times and you will likely be yelling at your screen for him to do what needs to be done, but I guess that just adds to the fun.

I agree that it is strange to have such a strange looking protagonist. The eyes and his figure make it so that I think I will have a hard time taking things seriously. Regardless, I will give the anime a shot.

And I think you're kind of right... xD I wouldn't enjoy an anime with a fat female character as protagonist as much as any other anime. So I would understand what your point in this comment is.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I'm not one of those guys that like fat protagonists nor hate them. I just gave this a nime a try and after all I started to enjoy this anime anyway. While the main protagnist in this anime is fat, it ain't fat in the Accelerated World though. So I think there shouldn't really be a discussion about that matter anyway. I just agree with what you said earlier.
